Early morning paddle on our local beach (only a ten minute walk from our holiday cottages) and another glorious day in North Devon. My posh thermometer clocked a staggering 36.6c at one point here yesterday, making it hotter than Casablanca and Calcutta. Cor blimey!
Here’s a view taken from Northam Burrows on the North Devon Coast not far from our holiday cottages. It’s a 23 acre park as well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest owing to its wide range of coastal habitats. Charles Kingsley called it a “fertile sheet of smooth alluvial turf”! A fact unlikely to come up in a pub quiz admittedly, but there you go! Historic Appledore can be seen on the right of shot, and that’s lovely Instow just about visible on the other-side of the estuary.
A view of ‘Knaps Longpeak’ taken this weekend on our dog walk along the South West Coast Path just a few minutes north of our holiday cottages here in Welcombe – North Devon. With all the sheer cliffs around here you wouldn’t want to tackle these walks after a big day in the pub with the sunlight fading fast!
