Have you seen these strange little fellas before? I found them washed up our local Devon beach earlier this week. They’re apparently called Gooseneck Barnacles. I haven’t mustered up the courage to eat one yet but they’re a highly prized delicacy in Portugal and Spain where they auction for as much as 300euro a kilo and a plateful in a restaurant could set you back 100euro. Come and catch your own.
A vast, unspoiled and wild National Trust beach just 5 miles down the coast from our holiday cottages. A view here taken earlier this week of rock pools with the ancient twisted sheer cliffs in the background. Good chance of sighting dolphins and basking sharks out to sea in the warmer months and peregrine falcons and buzzards up above.
Spring is painting her masterpiece!
